Dr. Killgore is a research fisheries biologistin the Environmental Laboratory at ERDC conducting research on environmental biology of fishes, threatened (sturgeon) and invasive (Asian carp) fish species, ecosystem restoration in wetlands large river systems, and environmental impact assessment of U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) flood control and navigation projects. He is part of aresearch Team workingwith USACE Districts and Divisions on evaluating environmental issues for Congressionally-approved water resource projects with emphasis inthe Mississippi River and Tributaries. Dr. Killgore has been a member of the American Fisheries Society since 1985 and served as the Mississippi Chapter AFS President in 2006. He has received numerous achievement awards including the USFWS Southeast Regional Director’s Conservation Award in 2011, and in 2014, recognition from Tom Bostick, LT General, US Army 53rd Chief of Engineers and Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell for co-authoring a Conservation Plan for the three endangered species in the Lower Mississippi River, and the Bronze de Fleury Medal in 2017 for his ecological research in the Mississippi River. Dr. Killgore also teaches river science courses as an adjunct professor at Tulane University.Overall, Dr. Killgore and his colleagues have authored over 150 publications, 65 of which are referred journal or book articles.
